National Security Inspectorate Sentinel House, 5 Reform Road, Maidenhead, SL6 8BY E: nsi@nsi.org.uk | W: nsi.org.uk Page 1 of 3 © NSI 2021 Date: 22 November 2021 To: All NACOSS Gold and Systems Silver approved companies and applicants TECHNICAL BULLETIN No: 0062 Publication of a new NSI Code of Practice for the planning, installation, commissioning and maintenance of intruder alarms, and the withdrawal of NACP 11 A revision of NACP 11 (NSI NACOSS Gold Supplementary Code of Practice for the Planning, Installation and Maintenance of Intruder Alarms) was undertaken. NACP 11 included many out of date references and many of the requirements are now to be found in other standards referenced by both NSI NACOSS Gold and Systems Silver approval schemes; e.g. BS 9263, BS 8243, etc. To avoid duplication, these requirements have been removed. Post revision, it was clear that the scope of NACP 11 needed significant change in order to be relevant today, so a new document title was created and is now published as NCP 120 Issue 1. Implementation timescale for Applicant Companies New NSI applicant companies to the NACOSS Gold and Systems Silver schemes will need to be compliant with NCP 120 Issue 1 with immediate effect. Implementation timescale for existing Approved Companies NSI companies approved to the NACOSS Gold and Systems Silver schemes will need to be compliant with NCP 120 Issue 1 by 1st April 2022. To allow companies the necessary time to review and adapt appropriate processes and procedures to meet the requirements of NCP 120 Issue 1, NSI will not start auditing to this new code of practice until 1st December 2021. From this date and until 1st April 2022, a non-compliance will have an audit note recorded against clauses of the code. From 1st April 2022, normal audit practice will resume where findings will be recorded against clauses of the Standard and will have to be satisfactorily addressed before approval can be granted.
