NEW CERTIFICATE OF COMPLIANCE FOR SECURITY SYSTEM MAINTENANCE TAKEOVERS

Following the withdrawal of the BS type Certificate of Compliance (CoC) from the approved company area of the NSI website, there have been occasions where companies have been unable to issue a CoC for systems compliant with withdrawn standards or codes of practice after a maintenance takeover. To address this, we have created a new CoC for security system maintenance takeovers which will be available from 22nd September 2021. I would like to draw your attention to Annex 4 of NSI Regulations for security systems, sub-clause A.4.1.5 where you will find requirements relating to the issuing of CoCs for systems you now maintain that were originally installed by another NSI approved company. Brief description of requirement A.4.1.5 If an NSI CoC was not issued for a security system installation by the original NSI approved company, you become responsible for issuing a NSI CoC for the security system installation(s) if: • you have become responsible for maintaining the security system installation; or • you now have the right to claim future income from the security system installation. In these cases, you must issue your customer with an NSI Takeover CoC for each security system installation. The new Takeover CoC is available to purchase through the approved company area of the NSI website. The fee for each of these takeover certificates is £10. For companies still purchasing hard copy blocks of certificates or printing certificates through third party software, a template will be made available and certificate numbers will be available from NSI’s accounts team at the cost of £10 for each number. It is important that all types of CoC are correctly completed and, to assist with this, improved validation logic has been added to the online security system CoC issue forms. Outline of improved issuing form validation logic The choice of security grade of system (1-4) will only be allowed for PD 6662 systems. The choice of security grade for notification (1-4) will only be allowed for PD 6662 systems and must be equal or greater than the selected security grade of system. The description of notification will only allow appropriate selection in respect of the selected type of system. Questions? If you have any questions regarding the implementation of the new certificate, please do not hesitate to contact me.
