BS 9263:2016 – COMMISSIONING, MAINTENANCE AND REMOTE SUPPORT

British Standards Institution has published BS 9263 – Intruder and hold-up alarm systems – Commissioning, maintenance and remote support – Code of practice. The changes compared to DD 263:2010 are relatively minor. However Annex C (Informative) of BS 9263:2016 is new and gives information about the calculation of standby battery capacity. DD 263 is listed in PD 6662:2010 – Scheme for the application of European standards for intrusion and hold-up alarm systems – and also in Appendix S, Annexe A of the current National Police Chiefs’ Council (NPCC) guidelines on police requirements & response to security systems. Consequently DD 263:2010 continues to be applied despite the publication of BS 9263. Please be aware that PD 6662:2010 is currently under review due to amendments to a number of standards and BS 9263 is likely to be applied when a new edition of PD 6662 is published, probably in 2017. You may wish to familiarise yourself with BS 9263 prior to the publication of the new edition of PD 6662. However this is entirely optional at this stage.
