BSI are inviting comment on the draft of BS 5839-1 for the committee to review and resolve. The public comment period ends on the 16th April 2024. Brief description of the proposed changes • Restructuring of some parts of the document. • New recommendations on modifications and extensions of fire detection and fire alarm systems. • New recommendations on the unacceptability of certain “variations” which are currently allowed in the existing standard. • Recommendations for the siting of manual call points have been simplified. • Recommendations regarding the type of automatic detection to be used in rooms where people sleep.
