This is mainly for companies holding NSI Guarding Gold or Guarding Silver approval for the provision of contracted remote CCTV control centres for the management and operation of CCTV schemes. However Annex E may become relevant to Remote Video Response Centres (RVRCs) holding NSI ARC Gold approval in relation to BS 8418. Currently sub-clause 10.1 of BS 8418:2015 calls for remote video response centres (RVRCs) to be managed and operated in accordance with BS 7958:2009, Annex A. This is part of the NSI ARC Gold audit schedule for RVRCs and does not lead to NSI Guarding Gold or Silver approval unless a company applies for the Guarding approval. The provisions of Annex E of BS 7958:2015 may take over from Annex A of BS 7958:2009 in relation to BS 8418. However this has not been clarified. For the time being, therefore, NSI ARC Gold audits of RVRCs will continue to apply Annex A of BS 7958:2009 and we will endeavour to seek clarification from British Standard Institution regarding the status of Annex E in relation to BS 8418. In the meantime you can use the Bulletin to see the changes made to the new standard compared with BS 7958:2009 Annex A and you can obtain a copy of the Bulletin from the NSI ARC Gold area of the NSI website using your login details.
