I am pleased to inform you that we have issued NSI technical bulletins 0036 and 0037 giving guidance on the implementation of BS 8517-1:2016 British Standard Code of Practice for the use of general purpose security dogs, and BS 8517-2:2016 British Standard Code of Practice for the use detection dogs. You can use the bulletin to see the changes made to the standard compared with BS 8517-1:2009 and BS 8517-2:2010 and you can obtain a copy of the Bulletin from the approved company login area of the NSI website. We will audit new applicant companies against BS 8517-1:2016 and BS 8517-2:2016 with immediate effect. If you hold NSI approval to BS 8517-1:2016 and or BS 8517-2:2016 already, please make sure you upgrade by the end of September 2017 at the latest.
