The 2017 edition of PD 6662 references BS EN 50131 – 1:2006+A2:2017 where requirements for monitoring options are to be found. This new edition introduced some changes resulting in the following: Inclusion of a grade 2 bells only option. Removal of the mandatory requirement to monitor, process and notify an ATP fault (in a dual path ATS). Removal of the mandatory requirement for an Alarm system to notify an ARC of ATP/ATS fault (Where the ARC monitors the status of the ATP/ATS). References to clauses of BS EN 50131 – 1:2006+A2:2017 below aim to provide clarity for changes made in amendment 2 in respect of alarm notification. Clause 8.1 Functional requirements; Table 1 – Faults. Table 1 lists an Alarm Transmission Path (ATP) as an independent fault, recognition of which is optional for all grades. Note: Where the SPT and CIE are configured to provide and process an ATP fault, then it must be recognised by the CIE. Clause 8.3 Operation; Table 4 – Prevention of setting. Table 4 lists an ATP fault as an event that may prevent setting but is optional at all grades. Note: Where an ATP fault is recognised by the CIE, then it should prevent setting. Clause 8.4 Processing; Table 7 – Processing of intruder, hold – up, tamper and fault signals/messages. Table 7 Note 6 allows for an optional exclusion of reporting an ATP/ATS fault by the CIE to the ARC, providing the ATP/ATS status is monitored independently by the ARC. Clause 8.6 Notification; Table 10 – Notification requirements. ATS notification is referenced in line with ‘BS EN 50136 – 1 Alarm systems. Alarm transmission systems and equipment. General requirements for alarm transmission systems’. Identifying a single path ATS as SPn and a dual path ATS as DPn, each category of SP or DP has a number suffix identifying the performance category. When completing an NSI certificate for a grade 2 I&HAS which does not have a URN for Police response, option 2E should be selected and noted with an ’X’ in the endorsement 1 box. Note: PD 6662:2017 notification option 2E is the same as PD 6662:2010 notification option 2X. Where is the standard available?
